High rocks (aka ralph stover’s) March 6:

March 15, 2010

With the weather getting warmer and days getting sunnier a few people hatched a plan to climb outside.  Carlos, Alison, Ya Ping, Hollis and I headed out to Haycock to boulder but quickly had our hopes dashed.  There was a lot of snow at the top rock parking and the hanger 18 parking spots were full.  Regardless we parked on the road, got our feet wet and trudged up the snow before calling it quits.  We didn’t even make it to the boulders.

We accessed the internet and found our way to Highrocks, just 20 minutes away.  This is a popular top rope area above a river in Ralph Stover’s State Park. The rock quality is poor, dirty, polished and unsound.  We managed to drop the rope on 2 different climbs, including a large roof.  It saved the day.

Later we met up with more climbers in south philly for Brian’s birthday and ate penis cake. woot.
